Reports to: Chief Executive OfficerEducation: 4-year degree in related field required; Master's preferredExperience: 7-10+ years in non-profit, sales, marketing, fundraising or related fieldExempt Status: ExemptPosition SummaryThe purpose of this role is to support the Museum of Arts & Sciences (MOAS) mission by developing and implementing the Museum's strategic communication, marketing, and fundraising goals. As part of the leadership team, the Chief Advancement Officer will coordinate and implement a fundraising strategy for individuals, foundations, and corporate support throughout the Daytona region and beyond. The CAO will work with the Chief Executive Officer to operationalize, oversee, and expand all activities related to marketing, communications, membership, and fundraising.The CAO will synthesize the overall messaging of the organization to best leverage the organization's ability to increase visitorship, grow membership, and continually grow and develop the donor pipeline. Working in partnership with the CEO and Board of Trustees, the ideal candidate will build relationships with existing and potential donors to grow the Museum's donor base and inspire existing members and donors to greater levels of commitment. A proven track record of successfully building relationships, soliciting major gifts, and managing staff is critical. The ideal candidate will have a passion for MOAS' art, history, science, education, and community engagement. Success in the position will be defined by driving a cohesive strategy demonstrating both initiative and creativity to reach ambitious attendance, membership, and fundraising goals.Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee, strategize, and grow all initiatives and activities related to messaging, communication, relationship-building, donor cultivation/stewardship, and marketing.
  • Collaborate with key education and curatorial staff to develop and implement giving strategies that leverage the Museum's offerings to utilize and grow the organization's portfolio of donors, supporters, and prospects.
  • Oversee the division's key budget areas including marketing/communications, development, and membership including analysis, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Take ownership of all Strategic Plan goals related to the Advancement & Communications Division.
  • Provide direction and consultation for the Museum's Advancement and Marketing strategic plans to include membership, fundraisers, campaign initiatives, grants, sponsorships, individual contributions, Guild, and overall brand strategy.Marketing & Communications
    • Working with the Advancement & Communications division, develop communication strategies and promotional materials to support all aspects of the Museum's communication, messaging, and fundraising strategies.
    • Provide insights and consultation for the Museum's marketing, public relations, media relations, and communications initiatives.
    • Develop innovative and creative strategies that will support exhibits and fundraising efforts while attracting a wide array of members and guests to the Museum.Donor Relations
      • In partnership with the Chief Executive Officer, manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospects to provide charitable donations to the museum; maintain regular correspondence with program officers of foundations and corporate representatives.
      • Along with the CEO, identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors to build the organization's network to deepen relationships with individual donors, foundations, and businesses.
      • Attend and participate in museum and community events to meet new members, prospects, and donors; represent the museum in a professional manner with diplomacy and confidentiality.
      • Oversee the membership program and work with Development Manager to strategize annual efforts for growth and membership value.
      • Provide strategies and tactics that will allow MOAS to deepen engagement between Guild members and the Museum by embracing and supporting Guild activities while also introducing new opportunities for its members to support MOAS efforts.
      • In partnership with the CEO, create and implement a strategic fundraising program with a focus on achieving Museum-wide goals that strengthens and stewards all important donor relationships.
      • Lead all fundraising initiatives and programs related to membership, sponsorships, direct contributions, grants, and fundraisers focusing on establishing and hitting revenue targets.
      • Develop and execute a fundraising calendar; solicit and close individual gifts, coordinate annual fund campaigns, and meet with corporate partners to develop sponsorship opportunities.
      • Work closely with Development Manager and grants contractor to oversee the grants program and reporting requirements.
      • In partnership with programming staff and the Development Manager, research new grant opportunities and oversee the grants calendar, including proposals and reports.
      • Provide detailed fundraising progress reports, help establish performance measures, monitor results, and utilize Altru database to document fundraising activities.
      • Work closely with the CFO and COO on processes, procedures, and financial reporting as it relates to contributions.
      • Develop systems, flow charts, and SOP's that clarify roles and responsibilities of each group.Programs/Events
        • Manage the Museum Guild and Corporate membership programs, send out membership communication, and coordinate a successful and consistent delivery of membership benefits.
        • Lead, envision, design, and manage the annual fundraiser, VIP preview nights, appreciation/cultivation events, and other needs to grow the donor and member base.Supervision

              • A Bachelor's degree and minimum 7-10 years of experience in development / fundraising and/or sales/marketing with demonstrated success.
              • Experience managing staff and/or a department.
              • Capital and/or Endowment Campaign experience strongly preferred.
              • Genuine interest and commitment to the arts, culture, science and history field.
              • Experience in measuring data and outcomes of fundraising appeals, campaigns, membership, and events for efficiency and effectiveness.
              • A strong communicator and writer; relationship-builder of the highest integrity.
              • Excellent financial management skills, including experience with developing and managing budgets.
              • Experience with project management, including conceptualizing projects, planning, and execution.
