Job Description
Opportunity to join the core delivery arm of a rapidly growing
Telehealth service company. VirtuAlly is the only firm providing
turnkey, human centered tele sitting solutions in the emerging
field of continuous virtual monitoring (CVM).
Job Purpose
The Virtual Safety Observer (VSO) provides continuous monitoring of
patients in clinical settings across multiple states via camera
feeds. This position collaborates with administrative, technical,
and clinical staff at various healthcare facilities to promote
patient safety, especially for those patients at risk of harm
including suicidal patients as part of an observation spectrum. The
VSO will be responsible for real time assessment of safety risks
and intervention via a predetermined escalation algorithm.
Primary Responsibilities

Answer phones at workstation in a timely manner.
Use proper phone/video etiquette when communicating with patients
and staff by displaying effective customer service strategies.
Monitor multiple patients for extended periods of time for safety
risks including but not limited to fall risk, elopement risk,
pulling lines, and low to moderate suicide risk.
Ensure that patient information is entered into the software
correctly.
Document required information per CVM protocol.
Provide closed loop communication for specific high-risk behaviors
(sexual, violent, self-harm behavior, suicidal intent) by following
established protocols of notifying staff of patient safety
concern(s) identified.
Secondary Responsibilities
Obtain report from RN upon initiation of CVM and provide ongoing
exception report to oncoming shift for duration of CVM
intervention.
Provide introduction at initiation of intervention and the
beginning of each shift if patient is awake.
Ability to accurately recognize signs of patient agitation,
impulsiveness, pulling at lines/tubes, and/or illicit drug or
alcohol use.
Reporting changes in patient behavior, and escalating
communications as necessary using established protocols and best
judgment.
Follows proper channels of communication in handling routine and
emergency situations.
Provide report to oncoming staff (PSO) regarding patient status.
Include overview of interventions, behaviors observed, and
status.
Notify PSO Lead or designee when CVM is discontinued so that
resources can be allocated appropriately.
Notify PSO Lead and nurses caring for all CVM patients if
experiencing system issues like downtime, video failure, etc.
Contact help desk to resolve any technical issues.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Two years of prior and recent experience in patient care
Knowledge of, or ability to learn the function and use of the
streaming video monitoring equipment
Knowledge of, or ability to learn procedures and terminology
applicable to the operations of the assigned work unit
